We’re liberal with this pass because most people are unclear about the future of the United States without cannabis prohibition. Anytime people are unsure, they vote no. So we’ll help you out, Ken. Cannabis users would be subject to the same sobriety proving techniques which law enforcement offers to prescription drug (Oxycontin, Vicodin, Xanax) users. Impairment is the concern, and less so with cannabis than with heavy narcotics, all very available and legal. Looking for unintended consequences, Ken? Here’s one: If we regulate and tax cannabis, people will likely use less alcohol. Study after study keeps proving that alcohol is far more dangerous in a driver’s blood than is ganja. Alcohol users tend to take risks. Cannabis users tend to overcompensate for perceived impairment and actually drive better than when sober. So there will be fewer road deaths as people use more cannabis, which is a far, far safer substance than alcohol. Nothing scary about that.
