“Faces of the Drug War: A series of 8 concerts in Canada, the US and Europe will feature major artists who support ending the war on drugs. During the concerts there will be intermittent videos and images that show the real victims of the war on drugs, along with brief appearances by celebrities, politicians, policy reformers and representatives of victims groups talking about why they support the end of the Drug War. A communications plan for each event will focus on local media and provide Drug War content, interviews with celebrities, policy reformers, victims groups and other supporters. Venues will be for audiences of 20,000 and up. International artists as well as local and national artists will be featured in each location.
Targeted cities are Vancouver, Toronto, New York, Los Angeles, London, Berlin, Munich, Washington D.C.”
We applaud the tenacity of this group of seasoned drug policy, media, and event production specialists to bring drug policy and the failed war on drugs to the forefront of voters minds by staging concerts in major world cities prior to the 2012 United States Presidential Election. Marijuana legalization will be a ballot issue in California and Colorado in 2012, we hope, and if so these concerts will certainly help rouse the college, university and prep school vote of 18-24 year old students.

Campaigns which begin as strongly, and as early as this one will most certainly bring wanted attention to the advances the ganjapreneurs are pushing to manifest into the world. Media will whip into a frenzy by 2012, and this concert series will stand as a focal point for the 24 hour news stations. With luck, the youth movement of the United States will see the concerts as a Woodstock moment for their generation. We’ll just have to remind them not to eat the brown acid.
